The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA ), Blantyre, announces that Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) will be migrating its mobile (CDMA) number range from the current seven (7) digit to nine (9) digit numbering format in line with the new numbering plan that was introduced by MACRA in 2009.

There will be a dual numbering (parallel running) period from 1 st November, 2011 to 30 th November, 2011 where both the seven digit and the nine digit numbers will be in use. However, from 1 st December 2011, only the new nine digit numbering plan will be in use.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Cyberjaya, announces that, since August 2011, all international and national telex service is no longer provided to and from Telekom Malaysia network in Malaysia.

The Telex Destination Code (TDC) “84” allocated to Telekom Malaysia  (ITU-T Recommendation F.69), including the Telex Network Identification Code (TNIC) “MA” (ITU-T Recommendation F.68) (also used as telegram destination indicator), remain nevertheless reserved for Malaysia.

Amd. to National Numbering Plan

In accordance with ITU-T Recommendation E.129 (2013-01)

Administrations are requested to notify ITU about their national numbering plan changes, or to give an explanation on their webpage concerning the national numbering plan as well as their contact points, so that the information, which will be made available freely to all administrations/ROAs and service providers, can be posted on the ITU-T website.

For their numbering website, or when sending their information to ITU/TSB (e-mail: tsbtson@itu.int ), administrations are kindly requested to use the format as explained in  Recommendation ITU-T E.129. They are reminded that they will be responsible for the timely update of this information.
